I’m usually not into dance troop/group/crews but this Wrecking Crew Orchestra video is visually impressive. Skip ahead to 33 seconds.

Really pumped I do not wear make-up on a daily basis after having watched this video done up for NOWNESS by Dutch directors Lernert & Sander.  They enlisted the expertise of make-up artist Ferry Van der Nat to apply 365 layers of “face” in one day.

Towards the middle of the video I couldn’t help thinking of my female classmates from high school and their obsession with foundation, particularly the really orange kind that never blended at the jaw line.  Perhaps it was a 90’s thing, maybe it was the naivety of growing up in the suburbs but all I know is that their explorations in make-up were not too far off from the end result of this video - something kind of gruesome and funny at the same time.

I’ve never been a fan of wedding videos, but maybe I should start paying attention to them because this one by Shark Pig  is THE BEST.  It has a beautiful style that lends to some seriously dreamy nostalgia, reminds me a lot of the opening for the wonder years but romantic. I’m going to need one of these done up for my wedding. *super sigh.

Friend and fellow die-hard Habs fan, Will Lew, has made a criminally gorgeous video that has a sorrowful romanticism that seriously got me choked up.  Check out more of his work here.

Every spring, Amsterdam is covered with little golden seed leaves from the local Elm trees. They make the city even more dreamy and wonderful as they fly around in the wind.

Here’s a short video I made dedicated to these seed/leaves.

The video for their song “Fish” is a collaboration between the band Wye Oak, local Baltimore artist Katherine Fahey who the created stunning paper cuts to illustrate the song and Michael O’Leary responsible for the photography and cinematography.  The meticulous detail in this collaborative work is fantastic - if you are in a creative rut this video will definitely help pull you out.  Click here to see stills from the behind the scenes.

Can’t speak enough about this video, the re-appropriation of kaleidoscopes and cubism in a contemporary format is visual bliss.
